The idea of painting meant nothing, but there it was, people nurtured it on their walls with their bank accounts. Painters crazed by the feeling they would become the next big thing, even if it was in their own home town for a year or two, as the paintings faded with their insignificance or humble being. The thought of making art was romantically cruel.

Hiring Acrylic Artists- Grumbacher Paint
BROWNSVILLE AREA
Grumbacher Paint is looking to hire accomplished acrylic painters to teach two-hour workshops at a major retailer in locations across the United States and Canada. Artist must be capable of demonstrating a still life, landscape, seascape, and floral. We have developed a flexible curriculum in acrylics for an artist to use or adapt to fit to his or her style. We plan to conduct approximately one to four workshops per store per month and the artist will have flexibility in scheduling. Compensation is $100 per workshop, and teaching materials will be provided to the artist at no cost.
Please have anyone who is interested email Daniel McGloin at dmcgloin@chartpak.com with examples of works in acrylics, a resume, and contact information. (Chartpak is a manufacturere of fine art supplies. Grumbacher, Koh-I-Noor, Higgins Ink, and Clearprint are some of our brands.)

TAOB: Tell us where do you reside and or where are you from: I am an artist residing in Corpus Christi, but I lived in Brownsville for thirty years.
TAOB: What is your educational backround: I received a BFA at Texas A&M in Corpus Christi, and I am presently working towards my Master of Arts' degree
with emphasis on Painting.
TAOB:What is your exhibition history: I have exhibited in numerous galleries in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin, San Benito and Harlingen. Presently,
ChimMaya Gallery of Los Angeles, CA has been seeking my work. In this gallery, my work has been exhibited with
George Yepes, Cesar Martinez, Adan Hernandez, Margaret Garcia, Yolanda Gonzalez, Frank Romero, and Gilbert
"Magu" Lujan. All artists in the Cheech Marin's Collection.
TAOB: Tell us about your most recent accomplishments: Recently, one of my pieces was selected to exhibit at the University of Texas in San Antonio in the show "New Art,
Arte Nuevo 2010. Artists from South and West Texas submitted work for consideration. There was an excess of
600 pieces. Only 53 made it to the show. My piece "El Vato Louie" was selected for the exhibit. Additionally,
"El Vato Louie" was selected to appear in the Sunday paper of San Antonio's News Express.
TAOB: What are your current interests in the growing Brownsville art scene: I would very much like to exhibit at Galeria 409, since I am a product of Brownsville. Meanwhile, I am forwarding a few pieces of work and
my vitae for your review.
