I found your site through Javiar Garcia who is working with the Brownsville museum construction a new more interactive website. I want to support Brownsville Artistsand think your blog site is great! I am a "Winter Texan" very active with the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art and would like to give you some informatiom about upcoming events.
There will be an Open House on Friday, December 16th at the Brownsville Museam of Fine art, 230 Neale Drive from 4-6 PM. The public will enjoy a demonstration by professioanal artist, Marilyn Brown. Ms Brown is known for her experimental and creative art workshops. She will give a demonstration of painting on Uupo paper. Yupo paper is a synthetic, non-absorbant paper developed primarily for outdoor graphics. The presentation "Yippee it's Yupo" will take place at 5 p.m. and serve as an introduction to a three day experimental and creative workshop offered January 16, 16, and 18th, 2006. The cost of the workshop is $75 for members and $85 for non-members. Ms. Browns workshop is one that fills very quickly according to Carol DeMoss, Executive Director with the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art. "The Open House will be a chance for people to sign up early".
Ms. Brown has won several juried shows with her innovative works and has served as a judge in many art exhibits.
The selection of handmade holiday ornaments are part of a silent auction at the Open House with proceeds supporting the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art's new facility under consturction at 7th and Ringgold. There will also be art on view and for sale from the collection of past members and visiting instructors. Their sales will also support the new facility.
