ProCantus Lyric Opera of McAllen will be holding auditions for major roles in Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni including Santuzza, Turiddu, Alfio, Mamma Lucia and Lola.
Audition is by appointment only on Sunday, January 22, 2006 from 10:30AM to 2:30PM. Bring an aria of your choice and prepared excerpts from the Cavalleria Rusticana.
Performance dates will be at 8:00PM on Saturday, March 25, 2006 and 3:00PM, Sunday March 26, 2006 at McAllen Civic Center.

Here is little something for the Punk Music Fans and readers of The Art of Brownsville Blog.
Performing artist: Hymens put on an unforgettable punk show last night at CHAPAS BAR located on 14th street in Brownsville, Texas. Hymens, a Brownsville based cover band, opened for an already famous the ATARIS acoustic tour show in front of a punk hungry crowded event.. Hymens cover many of the songs of legendary punk band RAMONES. For if you didn't know Hymen is Joey Ramones (singer of the Ramones) real last name.The Hymens are : Javier/ bass and vocals, Manny/ guitar, Primo/ drums, all Brownsvillians. It was hard not to sing along with these guys to classic songs like: Sheena is a punk rocker and I wanna be sedated. If you get a chance check out a Hymens show.The main show with the guys from the Ataris was awesome of course. It was a dual acoustic guitar show with only two members of the Ataris debuting some new songs or well new to me. But all in all it was a great show and everyone seem to be having a great time. Special thanks go out to the people of CHAPAS BAR for supporting the music scene and home grown talent and all who attended the show....
