Perhaps is not that you don't care, its just that you have seen them all your life, those who have crossed the river and run for their lives hiding from those dressed in green uniform that chase them. I guess you got use to it somehow, maybe even becoming immune from feeling anything, the chases became part of the landscape in this border town you call home. The numb discomfort that the thoughts in your head, the reasoning, your consciousness, your instincts, as you got older, anything that kept you from believing that they too are scared, hungry and tired was no where to be. And the chase passed you by and without a pause you kept on with your life.
