saps? most of the artwork was not in accodence with the rules, too old, exhibited before there and hung , well what can i say whoever hung it needs to leran how. this show was a joke and i feel sorry for the judge who had to see it. sad also for those who produced qulaity work and want to make this a legitament show. in this case, the saps were the ones who participated becuause of the crappy breaking of the rules. mr. martinez however is a class act, the bmfa international show like every one before it: sad. the ugly chuck cose copy needs to go, what it pays rent...major turn off...not a sap!

The only losers were the artists who did not participate, Loser.

put it this way, the best artists did not participate

It's sad to think the "best artists" in the area don't support the only art museum in the county by entering the International show. Everybody gives lip service to the BMFA, but do they buy a membership, attend the openings, donate anything to the institution? It's easier to criticize from the sidelines. Maybe if all these monday morning quarterbacks would get off their fat butts and volunteer or take out their stingy wallets and contribute, there would be money to hire a full time curator, an exhibits designer and acquire a solid permanent collection. But it's so much easier to continue to pick your nose and pick fault with the museum. And if you're going to continue to criticize, the least you can do is learn to spell, you pinche ignoramus.

I like to think that the board members from President to advisors and Museum Director are responsible to making the Museum work, and reflective of their quality. At the end of the day... If they aren't able to produce or have no pashion for their work, then they should resign.
Volunteers who hang the shows..should not be the decision makers here, if it is then no wonder it is so.

I have participated in previouse International Art Shows and perhaps hold record for the most pieces sold in a single International Art Show by one artist..I have also received ribbon awards..It is one of the shows I look forward to annually..I thought I sit this one out.. I will probably enter the next one and so forth..
The BMFA gets alot of support, from all the community, not just the art community...I have seen patrons of all sorts..what I think it lacks is leadership.
Again...desicions should not be passed down to volunteers..

Congrats to Brian Wedgeworth, Efrain Salinas and Teodoro. These guys have been working on their art for many years.

So your a member? Do you volunteer there too? What have you contributed? You guys have had your snouts in the trough, but what have you put in? You think somebody owes you a free ride? You sneak on the bus then shout directions from the back seat.

The same thing could be said about the museum, so drop it

Everybody does it, so that makes it right? It's okay to shamelessly self promote and run everybody else down?

Using talents and skills acquired in the fine arts, some artists / painters generate income by working in applied - arts fields, such as graphics designs, fashion illustration, book and book cover designs, Theater - scenic designs and fabric designers...etc.
I have sold numerous prints through my studio, just on the basics of distributing a press release. In some instances - I was involved with a silk - screen series consisting of five prints based on one theme. Press releases announcing the series and availability details were sent to arts - related publications, Museum shops and on Facebook.

We need Chicano art, a Chicano art center, a sense of identity, get rid of the people who are destroying what this place can be, reclaim poscession of what we stand for, stop selling out to those who talk sweet to you and have you lay in their bed, support each other, or the man will one day have you change your name, you morals and what is important about who we are; a people with a rich and noble hsitory who once were at the center of the world as opposed to a bunch of little girls who just want to be "part of it". Chicanos and we have to be Chicanos, as nothing else puts the fear on those who think they have won becuase, at the moment, they have control. Karma catches up.
