Who's curating this exhibit ?... and Why ?
doesn't matter and thing Kahlo is great!
No doubt about the greatest Female Mexican and of the entire World artist / painter ever
[ period ].!
Somewhere between the 1990;s and the mid - 2000's, art dealers
[ as one who buys and sells art, but do not represents artists / painters ] in New York City reinvented themselves and changed their tittle of their occupation and named themselves " Gallerist ". In Europe this title was first used in the Mid - 1990's.
The new tittle arrived with a set of rules of who can use it and who cannot. In an attempt to explain the differece between an art dealer and a gallerist [ as one who nurtures artists / painters ],and a private Gallery owner is a business person who discriminates in a positive or negative manner - always in His / her favor.
so?
We all in Brownsville, Texas " YA NOS CARGO LA CHINGADA "... again !!!
BLR spill over
... But why ?
... But Sadly True.
Amazingly, now that the rich Matamoros people don’t have a place to entertain themselves, they somehow invaded Brownsville and it safety and are clamming the BMFA and eventually who knows what else!. While I really did appreciate was the Khalo documentary exhibit; however I was turned off by the Jet Ink Prints presented, which for the most part were average. It would have been nice to have seen the real Muray photos. Still it was nice. Concern must be given to the idea that the BMFA could turn into a mechanism disruptive of social inclusiveness void of local input and most significantly American representation from local to national artists. The new director is sharp, smart and can give an inspirational speech. Yet it is self serving typical of a politician. I am curious how this will unraveled.
Ask Miss Marcela Ronquillo de Hinojosa the NEW director at the B.M.F.A.... Please !!!
What you want to avoid is beign exclusively tied to a gallery / museum that is NOT working hard on Your behalf: An artist / painter accepted an exclusive arrangement with a R.G.V. gallery without consulting an attorney. He signed an eigth - show contract, giving the gallery exclusive world rigths for all sales, including those made out of his studio. The contract only specified a total number of exhibitions; it did NOT included an ending date, and the gallery dealer was free to spread the exhibitions over aperiod of many years, Which He did.
How do I get this? As long as it gets me mucho money and shows and pays the rent, I am there, Do you have the address for this magical gallery in the RGV?
Yes, " Paradiso Magico " art gallery.....
no, its about reality...get over it
When the exhibition " 11 New Orleans Sculptors in New York " opened at the Sculpture Center, the eleven New Orleans artists, surprised their guests with a Creole dinner. It was an excellent opening and some of the best openings I have ever attended [ including My very Own ] It involved the serving of food
[ other than simply cheese, mini - weenies and crackers ]. The menus were not elaborate, but something special, which indicated that the artists were in control and were
" opening " for reasonbs other than that it was the expected thing to do. In addition, the breaking of bread among strangers relieved a lot of tension.
so it is about the food? best receptions I have ever atended were abou the art where there was no food, just some somthing to drink.
Not true again - Free food and Cheap wine alway rules - specially here in the EJIDOTE of Rancho Grande Valley, Texas !!!
