I advise all artists to visit galleries, before they decide to show their work. This in my opinion is one of the worst gallery’s to show work. It is not much better than a coffee shop.

I agree, do your research before you mail out any art. I myself have never done mail art and have been very skeptical about it. In some ways I still am. I have research the web to find galleries around the US who call for artist and found this to be one of them out several thousands. I thought I put it on TAOB to see what you think and if maybe there are some artist out there looking for venues to exhibit other than locally. It's no big secret that galleries or museums do this to attract outside talent and spice it up, our own Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts International Art Show has done this for several years and has been very successful even prior to the new building. As an artist I am sure you have been told or advise to exhibit other than locally to expand. I think it was at the last TAOB meeting that this was a hot topic where someone said "there is a world outside of Brownsville or the Valley". The way I see it, mail art, if its going to work you got to do your research. Check to see if its a legitimate business, maybe stick to small artwork that takes minimum cost to ship and or return, check for carriers like FEDX that allow you to track and insure your packages, do they charge to exhibit and how much, what audience will the gallery attract and will my art sell ?... What is the success rate for mailing art to other places ? Anyone ? One thing is for sure almost all galleries and museum charge a percentage of the sold artwork, and some of them charge to exhibit plus a percentage of the sold artwork and even then there are no guarantees.. ..
