Galeria 409 is open by appointment during the summer months. We will have a number of musical performances throughout the summer, including another Noche de Peña on June 17th at 7 PM. We'll continue to host Saturday night tango lessons and yoga classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30. The gallery will be undergoing some necessary maintenance, and work will continue on the 409 annex. We'll also be taking some much needed vacation time and working on banging together the schedule for next season's shows. We're hoping to present one man exhibitions by ..Oscar Alvarez, Cande Aguilar, Bret Lefler, Gerardo de Leon (Franchute) and David Freeman, as well as a couple of theme shows.
ATTENTION RGV ARTISTS: The next Galeria 409 OPEN SHOW is titled VIVA LA REVOLUCION and is open to all who submit work on the theme of the Mexican Revolution of 1911- 1921. All work must be framed and ready to hang or sit on a pedestal. We don't do glue, tape, staple or paint directly on the wall and nobody drives a nail in our brick walls period. We hang from wires. The exhibition is in conjunction with the Brownsville Historical Association and the Gorgas Foundation, who will both be hosting revolutionary exhibitions that open on the same night.
