Vertices - Pictures of the Exhibition







VERTICES

The opening for "Vertices" was last thursday May 14 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps. The exhibit consisted of painting, installation, video, and found object in an attempt to show a more contemporary interpretation of our ideas that dealt with everyday life themes. The show will stay for two months and will more than likely travel somewhere else if other venues are contacted.
This is the exhibit's statement:

Vértices alude a las convergencias entre tres artistas de la frontera tamaulipeca, pero a la vez a sus propias apreciaciones (a su propio vértice) respecto a la contemporaneidad del arte. Estos artistas desarrollan sin embargo una particularidad en general y por ser un trabajo que aborda un tema universal, los artistas Javier Dragustinovis, Juan Francisco González “Jufrago” y Mauricio Sáenz distribuyen con singular soltura un discurso identificable para cualquiera siendo este el de la identidad y el entorno.

These are the artist's statements:

Javier Dragustinovis (Cd. Victoria, 1969) ha desarrollado una obra que se nutre de las fronteras físicas e imaginarias, el sentido múltiple y particular de la realidad, así como el dialogo con su entorno (la frontera entre los Estados Unidos y México).

Juan Francisco González Rosales “Jufrago” (Matamoros, 1974) ha tratado sobre diversos temas muy relacionados a la universalidad y al entorno que lo rodea. Su trabajo ha tenido un sin números de cambios, tanto en técnicas como en formatos.
Mauricio Sáenz, (Matamoros, 1977) desarrolla su discurso a partir de la reacción visceral a actos de la vida cotidiana y de una sociedad vulnerable. A si mismo, encuentra en la reinterpretación de conceptos un arma para lograr un mejor entendimiento de los cuestionamientos que aborda su obra.
