It's an arguable prediction. To say that it can never happen, well thats a prediction itself. Several factors to consider: Quality-How well is the painting done , how long can it last without care, 30yrs, 100yrs 200yrs perhaps 500yrs. The painting can be purchased right now for about a modest $800to $1000.00 dlrs and resold in another market for ten times more: $10,000.00.Factors: How important is this painting ? Who is Antonio Antinori? If we don't consider his art important, how would any body elses be important.
I consider this work to be of great importance for all of us, Its success defines all of us.

The prediction is an idea of a greater purpose.

Mauricio you ask, am I serious.. oh yeah.. I am, why else would I be here.

Who cares if it reaches a million dollars? Half the artists I look up to never saw a dime in their lifetime.

I think Tony's work is completley different than most that I have seen. You can tell he works with his heart.

We all know the deal here with money. Majority have little of it and the few that do make it from taking it from the majority! I don't expect anyone to buy my art in the valley. Most are having it hard to pay for their children's health insurance.

Paint on and don't worry if you can't live up to Picasso. The real people of money are those who created his image. I have seen both honest painters and absolutley fakes win and lose in this game.

When it comes to selling art I think about the efforts one makes.
If you really wanted to sell you would be out there, chingandole..
Plenty artist find comeforts , perhaps in the day jobs, as teachers or what have you, we lose the hunger.. we are all guilty of that sometimes.
That comfort must come from painting and not the day job, I think about the movie 'Into the Wild", like going out there and surviving in the wild with a simple nife in our case a paint brush and your wits..
You make a good painting, maybe you can't sell it for cash, but maybe you can trade it for other goods and services. I see nothing wrong with that, perhaps one day you will trade a painting for a house...

Good movie, "Into The Wild". The main character holds on to his ideals , leaving society and material needs; burns all of his money for freedom. He dies but he really "lived".
Na, I agree with you that it's not bad trying to make a living with your art. At the same time, money shouldn't be the main reason
to create. Money can make you change the type of artist you are. Not that I am beneath in making a buck....

I sell mostly online , estimating about $150-200 per month on prints and not including cuts to the hosting sites. If money is your deal, then murals are the way to go. $3 grand a month, easy. Provided that you work air brush draw well, and create custom stencils with ease.

Selling ideas that are extremely personal and outside the idea of realism ( I mean to the the degree of photo like appearance )is a hard sell to most people.

Pro.Gomez once said it is very hard to show your work, its like hanging out your heart for every one to have a touch on it.I can can see the pain magnefied if the artist measures success in sales.

I don't think dreaming of successful art career is bad. I am just saying creating art for oneself is nothing lower.

Great Feedback James. The only problem is that must of the people buys Cheap crap from Home interior decorative stuff. People can not affort...or worst do not even Know or care about the artwork, art exhibits or any Fine art- related event. They Just want to paid $100 to go and see a Ranchero , Tex - Mex group or conjunto. The .99 cents / Welfare mentality is well established in the Border -
Subculture.
We need somebody to really tell all the TRUTH about what is going on, But sadly most well educated and intellectual professors teachers are so afraid to speak up, for the represatioral punishment or just simply put it: CHICKEN - OUT of the TRUTH!!!
