The Art of Brownsville -Blurbs!

"I think the idea of art evolves differently in each person."

Art is fluid, a thought, an idea that is nurtured from that of what we believe is real, or true, which in case varies from person to person.

I seek art, I look for it everywhere: in the streets, in peoples faces, sometimes even in sounds heard from a distance. I find comfort in the idea of knowing its there - everywhere, no different than standing in a gallery in front of a painting.
Art becomes more concrete or at least in a moldable substance subjective when we try to define it, only to conclude it is a form with endless possible variations .

I agree, inspiration for artists at it's peak of flow comes from the environment that surrounds them. Some capture it and others mash it up into something new. What I've found in Brownsville is a lack of definition amongst local artists. Let me explain because I think that there is an enormous amount of local talent. I see a movement of artists (all individual), but not a movement of artists (as a whole). A big part of art is production and with production should come a constant output of show. It would be badass if there was a First Friday for artists and the only way for that to happen is through unification. I used to paint but I've found myself more interested in photography and film lately. I might not dress a certain way nor think the same way but the art speaks for itself right? I say there should be a call to all artists young and new and push our way into an outlet provided by the city, just like the Farmers Market. The arts can be as important as health for this city.
Peace.
