Craig Grove-Realtor

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for some Latin or Chicano influenced art work for the next BL Happy Hour on Cinco De Mayo. I'd like a few artist to bring a couple of examples that they can display on their own easels for the event. Please have any interested parties contact me.

Thanks,

Most artists / painters find the experience of selling work directly to the public gratifying on several levels. The intimacy of the studio and direct contact with an artist can create a positive environtment, and for many people - direct contact with an artist is a chief factor in buying art.

The Brownsville Living Crusaders are a group of Young and on - the - go culturally team, helping the most unfortunate and abandoned pulprits of the region. their goal is to stablish an understanding of the Tex - Mex Border scene, Soon all artists/ painters will be able to display their artworks 7at the downtown Market square - old BUS station. the events will take place on a weekend / saturday art sale / artwalk scenario. The city of Brownsville will provide all the necesities for this long - awaited program.... lets' all support our local artists / painters by showing our monetary buying power with the arts.

Ever find your Chicanos?

The chicano movement never really found an audience here in the valley. Here people define and closely relate themselves with the tejano norteno culture. Here people would reather drive a f150 or silverado than a lowrider . There are a few chicanos them around but in their mind they think they are living in california.

Sadly, but true... as
" Chicanos " --- We don't have any true political leaders, positive Role models or a bright future . We lack pride and courage ... We are just a bunch of " BEGGARS - ARRIMADOS " !!!

Tell me about. Sad however, this is the only way that can motivate and change things. The rapid influx of Mexican immigrants is the other reason why you will not find that many Chicanos down here. Interestingly, there are more Chicanas than Chicanos. Brownsville has too many people with one foot in Mexico and one in the US. Of interest too is that the others are linking themselves to the cause, like the exhibition on the border wall at 409. I think the wall is working, from my point of view, it is keep the gringos out of Mexico, wasn’t that the real underlying truth about “la cerca”, to keep the spending here in the US by los norteƱos?

That's even Worse... people wake - up and have courage " LA MURALLA DE LA TORTILLA " is just another symbol pf the OPPRESIVENESS and REPRESIVENESS by the ruling Elite anglo - Saxon Protestants / Christians U.S. Governement towards Minorities / Colored people... Do NOT be Intimidated !!!

Why should I care? Chicanos are seen as maggots in time. The only hopes of a people that will correct the ills of this forsaken place are ill images of contemporary area trends. We are not gangsters, or drug pursers; we do not have ties with cartels or illegal forces. We are a simple voice that many in our area either are not aware of or simply live in darkness due to the madness of local petty social politics. So many sell out because they want to become part of the dynamic social presence and forgo what is important. The valley and Brownsville in particular have never had a chance to move forward due to the horrific influx of culture stealing identity. Why do so many cancel whom they are and adorn those who simply just use them. Chicano art might not be the mainstream fade or the idealistic local trend but it is the only salvation that the area has from the totally messed-up corruption of what the area can offer. 99.9 percent reflects the population. So why does .001 control? Just to get a minute of glory?...when mortality is on the horizon, and you know who you are basura. Chicano Art, viva la cuaza shivo!
